I can't believe that in less than fourteen weeks, school will be completely finished for me. For ever. Like...no more school. Ever. It's hard for me to get my head around, because it sounds stupid, but I've gone to school all my life. In a few months I'll be at uni and that's really scary.

It'll be hard starting a whole new life and having to lose touch with many of the people I like, well, speak to them and see them a lot less often, anyway. I'm kinda worried about it - worried I won't make any friends, worried about not being able to cope with the workload or about spending all my money in the first couple of months...or a combination of all of them. But at the same time, I'm really looking forward to it. I just have no idea what it's going to be like, or what to expect, or anything, really. And if you talk to me, you'll probably know I'm going through a fair amount of angst and stuff over this...well, I have been, anyway.

I'd just like to thank everyone for their support, all my friends and everything, even the people who don't read this...thank you anyway. I know they're calling it civil unions but it's basically the same as marriage, gays have got the same rights now and everything. To be honest, I can understand why some straight people wouldn't be comfortable with it because it is changing the definition of what marriage means, but I think in the long term it will be a good thing. Giving gay people the same rights as straight ones will mean that homophobia will be less accepted, as homosexuality will become more of a normal part of society, and gays and lesbians will be seen to be people who do normal things, rather than just march on parades and act weird on TV.

Hi, ho

Isn't it weird how the most innocuous sounding words can come to have rather dodgy meanings, like for example, the words "hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go". Now obviously "hi ho" means something quite different to "hi, ho!" but nonetheless, both sound exactly the same, and can be extremely funny when said in the right circumstances, for example, if you are drunk.

And if you said "hi, hoe," it would be different again, and would mean you were insane, since nobody in their right mind would ever talk to a garden implement in this way. And if you said "hi, hoe," it would mean you'd have to say "hi, rake" and "hi, fork" and "hi, trowel" and "hi, wheelbarrow", as well, so that the other things in the garden wouldn't feel left out. Well, maybe not "hi, fork" if you spoke in some northern accents, since people might think you were being very rude, as well as needing to be taken away, ho ho, ha ha, hee hee.

I have no idea why I wrote what I did.

L'Shanah Tova

Have a good year, everyone.

British troops in Basra

Did anyone see this yesterday on the news? It was appalling, they showed pictures of soldiers burning as they got out of the tanks as Iraqi police threw petrol bombs into the vehicles, in retaliation for the soldiers having shot two Iraqis earlier on... I really don't understand what possessed us to go to war in the first place, well I know why, I mean you can understand it in terms of geo-political strategy and stuff but why, why is there all this senseless fucking slaughter for no reason, the cycle of violence goes round and round and there are people at the top profiting from this bullshit. We should leave right now, seeing that on top of all the rest of the awful things happening in Iraq is so sickening it's not true. There were those poor people who stampeded themselves to death earlier on, the poor fuckers thought there were going to be suicide bombings and I can't blame them, every day there's another bomb and it's got so common you don't even hear it on the news any more. I don't understand anyone who says the war was a good idea for whatever reason, it was never a good idea, it was doomed to fail from the start. Everyone knew that Saddam didn't have WMD and now our troops are dying and killing innocent Iraqi civilians and our country is under a terrible threat of attack from terrorists. I had forgiven Blair for leading us into the Iraq war because of the statemen like way he had handled the London bombings, but now I am filled with so much disgust and loathing for this useless government that prefers kissing up to Bush than the security of its own people and views taking away our civil liberties as a way of stopping terrorism. Do we want to end up like the US who thought that it was better to spend money on defence while category 5 hurricanes are swirling round in the Atlantic Ocean ? meanwhile the real terrorists are out there plotting the next attack and laughing at us for electing such useless people as our leaders. I fucking wanted to punch the television last night when I saw those images. Not to mention the nameless faceless Iraqis who are killed every day in that country but their deaths aren't reported because they're not British or American. That's one thing about the British media that really annoys me, the first thing they could think of when Katrina hit the US was how many fucking British tourists were out there it was the same for the tsunami and it's the same with this.

Sorry for going on about this ................. i got that off my chest now.

I'm back at school, started on the 6th of September I think. Last Friday I made kiddush and made some attempt at lighting the candles, but I ended up burning my fingers. I was embarrassed at the time but it's no big deal, it's not like they would be nasty about it or anything. Going to Warwick uni tomorrow to check out the soci department and perhaps the politics department as well, and I really must ring my mate to find out how college is going. On Thursday I'm sitting the LNAT which appears to be one of the weirdest exams in the history of mankind, not that I'm going to law school but I think it would be a useful qualification to have.....

My results

I got :

French - A
History - B
Soci - A
RS - B
Critical Thinking - C

Whoohoo! Ah well...I'm glad it's that rather than say History, which I was convinced I was gonna fail, because I didn't really revise for it and the exams were as hard as anything I'd ever done. says:
not Jews are the chosen people
ya'aseh shalom : says:
and that basically
ya'aseh shalom : says:
you dont have to follow all of the mosaic laws
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
No.
ya'aseh shalom : says:
OK
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
The Bible never peddles any such nonsense.
ya'aseh shalom : says:
it was a long time since i read it
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Contrary to what the vast majority of professing Christendom believes and teaches
ya'aseh shalom : says:
But how come St Paul is said to have said this
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Because the anti-nomian psuedo-theologians have twisted his words
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
St. Paul said..
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
ya'aseh shalom : says:
OK
ya'aseh shalom : says:
well how come g-d said that he would never put another law in the place of the torah and that the jews were the chosen people and that he would always look after them, i dont mean to offend you but how can christianity be true in that case?
ya'aseh shalom : says:
i mean, unless
ya'aseh shalom : says:
i dont know
ya'aseh shalom : says:
g-d did say that anyone who believed in him would get rewarded and stuff
ya'aseh shalom : says:
like, anyone
ya'aseh shalom : says:
no matter what their beliefs were
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Because, my dear, Israel is still God's chosen people and the law is still in place.
ya'aseh shalom : says:
yeah
ya'aseh shalom : says:
Israel, in your view, = jews and british people and alot of european tribes and stuff
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
There ya go
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
See, without it the Bible, to me, becomes very incoherent
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Because Jeremiah 31 says rather flatly that God would make the new covenant with Israel and Judah
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
and the NT calls Jesus the mediator of the new covenant
ya'aseh shalom : says:
OK
ya'aseh shalom : says:
see, i always wondered this
ya'aseh shalom : says:
but .............
ya'aseh shalom : says:
wasn't the messiah supposed to bring peace?
ya'aseh shalom : says:
and in that case
ya'aseh shalom : says:
why are chrisitans fighting each other
ya'aseh shalom : says:
why did jesus not bring peace, the world since his birth has become a more dangerous place, not less of a dangerous one
ya'aseh shalom : says:
i'm not saying things can't happen long term
ya'aseh shalom : says:
over many centuries and stuff
ya'aseh shalom : says:
but i'm just wondering how jesus could have been the messiah when we clearly have not
ya'aseh shalom : says:
entered the messianic era
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Well, the Messiah is supposed to bring peace, but look at what he's supposed to do first
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
ya'aseh shalom : says:
but things have become awful for the poor people of this world
ya'aseh shalom : says:
when the bible was written
ya'aseh shalom : says:
like the jews still lived communally, there wasnt this huge gap between rich and poor
ya'aseh shalom : says:
where rich people lived totally detached from the poor and never did anything to help them
ya'aseh shalom : says:
sure, there was a gap
ya'aseh shalom : says:
but it wasn't so huge, with people suffering from malnutrition and with their arms and legs like sticks - and with other people with all of this stuff, like ferraris and owning whole islands and stuff
ya'aseh shalom : says:
things have got worse for the poor people of this world
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Yes, it has, and I'd say that's because the Messiah was rejected
ya'aseh shalom : says:
but he wasn't
ya'aseh shalom : says:
g-d knew, according to the bible
ya'aseh shalom : says:
and this predestination theory
ya'aseh shalom : says:
that
ya'aseh shalom : says:
he would be rejected
ya'aseh shalom : says:
why punish all of these people, who had nothing to do with it
ya'aseh shalom : says:
and furthermore
ya'aseh shalom : says:
millions of people believe in christianity
ya'aseh shalom : says:
it may not be the right sort of christiantity
ya'aseh shalom : says:
but they still beleive in it
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
And that is because of what I've already mentioned
ya'aseh shalom : says:
and in any case, if g-d knew that the messiah would be rejected
more_days_of_wine_and_roses@hotmail.com says:
Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
ya'aseh shalom : says:
there is no point in punishing people for something that was going to happen anyway
ya'aseh shalom : says:
and had nothing to do with them

Comments? ;)
Fuck.

I still am having trouble believing that these attacks happened. I have been on the same routes in London that got bombed, very possibly the same trains. I can't believe that as I was walking around London a terrorist was doing the same thing, but that they had very different ideas in their heads to what I and hundreds of other people did. Just can't get over it, that terrorists were walking around and that I could have even sat next to one. I don't really want to go over again what I saw a month ago, as it may not have even had anything to do with it, but I am trying to persuade my mum to report what we saw in a few days time, when most of the lunatics will have given up with their attention-seeking tales.

It feels so harsh and so unfair that this happened to our country the day after the Olympics were announced. This morning I was having a laugh with my friend about the Live 8 concerts and trying to find teachers who had disappeared. I found out what had happened at school and the reports kept on getting worse and worse. Whoever did this to our country deserves to be shot. OK, England is a shit place at times, the weather is shit, the people are often not much better, but at the end of the day, it is the country where I have lived all my life.

We've seen buses in the Middle East being blown up by suicide bombers but the fact that this bomb was on a red bus on a London road brings it all home to me. We have had terrorist attacks before but nowhere near on this scale, and by these type of extremists. The IRA are scum, but they normally phoned just before the blast to warn the civilians. These people don't care. I can't get over the fact that they simply do not care about anyone except for their twisted "holy" war.

But on the other hand as soon as I heard this I just felt very sad for the Muslims that are living in this country and have to deal with all of the fallout from these atrocities. I saw pictures on the TV of Muslim women who were injured. They didn't cause this, it was their tragedy too. How could they possibly have known who all of the terrorists were? They could not. I don't feel angry at them as I normally do when atrocities like this occur. Because that attitude will only really lead to pain and suffering in the long term. They are British people too. If a mosque gets blown up it will be a terrorist attack against British citizens, and I pray that such an attack does not occur. But knowing some people in this country I am terrified that it will.

Right now what we need to do is get on with our lives and think about the positive things in the world. There are so many. We often take our lives for granted and we take everything we have for granted which is so much more than what other people have. We need to be grateful for what we have and in this time we need to support each other. I think we have forgotten since the war how strong the UK once was as a community when we were fighting a common enemy. We need to get that back and we need to remember the good things about this country and not only the bad. This country can be a fucking wonderful place sometimes and that was proved today by what the emergency services did and the members of the public to help the injured to hospital.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. I am so glad that none of my friends were caught up in this event. I was so worried about them. I am so glad that the terrorists did not wreak as much havoc as they could have done and no doubt wanted to do. We should remember that when we think about these attacks. They didn't do what they wanted. And they will never win because love is stronger than all their hate and all of their lies.

If you want to give blood, go to www.blood.org.uk for infomration but remember to be careful about it until they make a formal appeal. After 9-11 they were inundated in NYC with people wanting to give blood, and they ended up with a dip shortly afterwards for several months as you can't give blood until 6 months after you last did so. They also ended up with an oversupply. So do it but be careful.

Stay safe, and G-d bless you. It sounds too funny to be true - a religious cult which hired a field to build a giant teapot which perpetually pours "holy" water into a giant vase. Their leader, Ayah Pin, believes that he is G-d, and that therefore it doesn't matter if his followers keep their other religions, since "all their prayers will still be going to him"! Well, at least he isn't a megalomaniac like most other cult leaders. He actually sounds pretty safe - he seems to be a fan of rock music (whatever Malaysian rock music is like to listen to!!)

The teapot supposedly signifies the purity of water, while the umbrella signifies G-d, who shelters everyone in the world. Well, it's true enough, I suppose. The Malaysian "Islamic Development Committee" have been getting their knickers in a twist about it - accusing this unlikely spiritual leader of luring Muslims away from their faith. He's actually scheduled to appear in court, and could end up going to jail. It sounds ridiculous, but maybe I shouldn't be laughing, after all I'm not a Muslim, and I don't know how I'd react if he built one of his giant teapots in Israel, or here for that matter, but I suspect I'd be equally entertained. I hope he and his followers don't get sent to prison. It's not often you get a cult that's so wacky and doesn't take itself seriously at all - and it's pretty rare in most major religions too.

I don't know what to say...

I haven't been updating my blog for ages. Got a letter yesterday from a property law firm I'd applied to saying that they were very interested in my application. I'm going to have to phone them on Monday.

Last night, I saw a hilarious play called "Arsenic and Old Lace" about two old ladies who live in a house and poison their visitors. They are totally open about it as well, but they are the sweestest old ladies (it seems) imaginable.

Their nephew Mortimer discovers this, erm, rather unconventional habit of theirs when he lifts the lid of the window-seat and finds a body. Added to the fact that he is engaged to be getting married to his girlfriend Elaine, this makes him rather out-of-sorts, as you can imagine. The old ladies literally can't understand why he's behaving in the way he does. He tries to stop them doing it, and one of them says, "Oh, Morty! We don't stop you doing the things that you like doing!"

It's hilarious especially when Mortimer's long lost brother Jonathan returns home with his sidekick Dr Einstein. Jonathan is a complete psycho and a gangster. You'll have to watch the play because it sounds a bit weird me explaining it on here. But all of the audience was laughing the whole way through. We went to the theatre Royal in windsor, which is really posh, darling.

It's Shavuot tonight so we're all gonna be pigging out on cheesecake and strawberries!

Ladybirds

When I was younger I used to really love these little insects. In fact I was a bit obsessed with them, I used to try and collect them and hatch their eggs out. One summer we had thousands of them on our drive, which was a bit sad because a lot of them got squashed. Anyway I thought I'd write about them because it's summer now, and they are all out. Apparently there are round about 20 species living in the UK (as well as a killer ladybird, which is making all the others in danger of extinction!)

I haven't posted any pictures on here so I reckon I'll make up for it now. ;)

The Orange Ladybird

This one, apparently, doesn't like eating aphids and likes mildew instead. (An interesting fact about aphids, btw, is that they are one of the only animals able to reproduce with gay sex. Don't ask me how, but it's true).

Apparently, the ladybird got it's name from the Virgin Mary. It's red colour is supposed to represent her cloak and the spots to represent her "7 Joys and 7 Sorrows".

<a href="<a">UK Safari has an interesting page about ladybirds, It doesn't include the 22-spot though. They seem to be getting slightly rare, so if you see one don't forget to put it on a plant with a lot of mildew on it. They eat mildew.

Stippen.nl is a site all about these sweet little beetles. I'm glad I'm not the only person mad enough to have an unhealthy interest in them. ;)

Kashrut

For the homework I was given for my class at shul this week, I had to write about how I practiced kashrut and what my attitude was to it. I am finding this question quite difficult to answer as there are just so many different things that I could say.

I don't eat pork or anything else that's forbidden but I don't keep milk and meat or buy from kosher shops and I don't really see that changing any time in the near future when I am still living at home. It's a shame but otherwise my family would go completely nuts, and well, honor your father and mother and all that! ;)

So how do I feel about it? I think it's pretty important as long as it is kept in perspective. For example a lot of orthodox Jews seem to go so crazy over this issue that they can no longer eat at the houses of non-Jewish friends or relatives whose kitchens happen to be "not kosher enough". The food laws were one of the things, that kept us together as a people for thousands of years and therefore it isn't very good to use them to make divisions between us, or to use it as an excuse not to have social contact with non-Jews.

Some pretty strong reasons to follow it, in my opinion, are the fact that Hashem has done such wonderful things for us. It's a way of showing are gratitude towards Him for what He's done. Another reason for it is that certain animals that aren't kosher, like pigs, are kept in really bad conditions and I'm a pretty strong believer that animals do have rights. You can not keep them cruelly locked up and without space to turn around because it just isn't right.

Well, umm, that's it really. I'm off to do some revision.

Why I am leaving England as soon as I can manage it

Five children have been arrested for attempting to murder a 5 year old boy.

Don't you fucking love this country? The way many of its citizens, especially in the media, feel that they can comfortably sneer at the US for school shootings, segregation and the high crime rate in many of its cities. And for its foreign policy and being arrogant and ill-informed about any other country. They never seem to mention that around of half of all English people are functionally illiterate or that Britain has arguably been responsible for far more of the shit affecting the world today than America has. For example, it was the British empire's territorial ambitions that led to many of the conflicts in the Middle East, and the ongoing problems in Zimbabwe would not have even existed if the British had kept their hands off of Africa. They try desperately to contain problems that they themselves created in Northern Ireland and create an image of Protestants there as "extremists", whereas in fact they were told to settle there centuries ago by the British government in order to colonise Ireland and keep all of the uncivilised Catholics under control. Now things are going against them the English establishment has discovered that they should demonise them, since they don't need them any more. And just look at this country's attitude to Israel.

And now this from a conference entitled, "Is Islam a threat to the west?" Lord Robertson has called on Muslims to denounce terrorism. Erm, why? This is likely to stir up unnecessary tensions at a time when acts of terrorism by Muslims are pretty rare in the west, if not non-existent. Even the Israel and Palestine situation has improved considerably. Why isn't he asking white people to denounce violent, drunken crime, which undoubtedly kills far more people than terrorism does in this country. I read that 40 people a year in Britain are killed by mental patients. If the same amount were killed by terrorism, Muslims would never hear the end of it.

Another example of something that annoys me is the way so many people aer completely ignorant about anything. Like on the programme "Jamie Oliver's School Dinners", many children didn't know what celery or even a potato was. And yet we have the guts to criticise americans for being stupid? What is the matter with this place?

Sorry for ranting , but I really am fed up of this place. If somebody can persuade me that England is worth staying in I will give them a medal, they face a very, very hard task. The weather ain't nothing to write home about either.

thank G-d that's over for the half term.

Two exams today and three yesterday. I'm so glad they're over and I get to have a break for a week. My hand is just knackered from all the writing. As if that wasn't enough I've been helping my mum with chiselling cement off some blocks that are going to become a wall.

I've got a funny joke to.

George W Bush wants to change America's name so he goes off to the United Nations and tells them what he wants to do.
"What do you want to change it to?" Asks one of the officials.
"I want it to be...the kingdom of America" says Bush.
"Well you can't do that," says the official. "Because you're not a king."
"What about an empire?" asks Bush, after thinking for a moment.
"You can't do that, because you're not an emperor," says the official, who is starting to become annoyed.
"What about a principality?" says Bush.
"You can't do that, because you're not a prince," says the official who is by now really irritated. "Why don't you just call it a COUNTRY?"

Well...I thought it was funny anyway. Completely ignored by the media, these guys have been conducting a rather successful campaign:

5/18/2005
The Illinois State Assembly passed divestment legislation 89-23! The legislation requires the state's pension funds to divest in any company with ties to Sudan. The legislation further prohibits the State Treasurer from investing in any financial institutions doing business with Sudan. The State Senate has already passed the legislation, and the legislation will go to Governor Rod Blagojevich to be signed. Full Press Release

Well fucking done!!

I wonder how much attention this will get in the media. Sudan's all but been forgotten by the BBC - but there is one country they never get tired of finding yet another Bad Thing to report about. I'm sure I don't need to mention where that country is. I promised myself I wouldn't write about far-right politics for this blog - not for a while anyway. But this just made me feel so sick that I had to say something about it. Aside from the fact that it reads like it's written by a Nazi chipmunk on amphetamines, the message is utterly poisonous.

Here are a few excerpts from the screed:

Belarus is the only Great White Gene Pool nation to garner the unique honor of
being labeled a "rogue state" by the jewSA. The jew "Wall Street Journal" calls
Belarus a "semi-fascist" state run by a "tyrant," too bad Belarus did not rank
as a "full-fascist" state. WhaHaHaHaHaHa!!! (See what I mean about the "chipmunk
factor"?)

Out of all of the nations comprising the Great White Gene Pool, (yes, he actually does say this) out of the
550,000,000 genetically pure White Men on this planet, only one national volk
has brought forward a "Leader" genuinely representing White interests -- the
Whites of Belarus.President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus: the White Gene
Pool's One and Only Head of State.Alexander Lukashenko's Belarus, the tough as a
pure white diamond, White volk nation. Tough as Yulia Nesterenko -- the "Belarus
Bullet" -- Lukashenko won't allow jews to sell his White diamonds into slave
whoredom in Israel, sucking d*cks of short, fat, dark, hairy, jews in Israel, as
the Ukraine does.

Population: 10,000,000 Slavs, 99% pure White Slav nation, less than 1% jew.
(Belarus has experienced a recent monumental demographic realignment. In 1939,
50% of the population of Belarus' cities and towns was jewish. [See how fast
shit can change in the right direction White Man. From jew shithole to 99% White
diamonds in the blink of an eye.]) (Who said WNs didn't love and respect other
races?!

This shit would normally make me laugh, except that it's actually a serious issue. This "guy"'s insane, racist cackling eventually turns into something really startling. The truth. Yes - a writer on VNN actually tells the truth...about something that's normally missed in all the mainstream media:

But opposed to this model is Lukashenko's "Belarus model":

1) Protect females
from jew exploitation and predation.

2) Jail the jews.

3) Maintain economic
independence and self-sufficiency.

4) Close off outside incoming capital flows
aimed at bribing potential boughtling race-traitors.

5) Allow no jew ownership
of the press, actually allow no jew participation in the media whatsoever.

When jews have tried to "Milosevic" (verb) President Lukashenko, he capitalizes by exposing and flouting jew subversion to bury the jews, he gets 80% of the vote by opposing the jew mafia. He will again get 80% or better of the vote in his 3rd five-year term, which will begin in 2006.

All of which is perfectly true, apart from the fact that his
re-election with such a large majority has less to do with the "Jew mafia" of this anti-Semite's fevered imagination than with the fact that opposition
candidates are routinely harrassed by neo-Nazis who are fully paid up by this dictator, beaten, arrested, imprisoned and tortured. Oh, as well as the small matter of all the media being entirely state-controlled. It's not really surprising that the Nazis adore him so much - he's descibed the history of Belarus as being "an exact copy of the history of Germany" and is just about the only European leader to (openly)fund them. They even describe him as "the last bulwark against Zionist oppression and the New World Order". Sure, 'coz in a democracy, Mr Nazi, you wouldn't be getting your pay packet every month for intimidating the opposition.

If you read the UCSJ site which
I also link to on this blog, you will find a lot of information about this
guy. It's nasty stuff. Among one of their most worrying deeds has been to change a Jewish cemetery into a sports stadium, leaving human remains lying all over the ground. There are quotas for them in the universities, and there are many incidences of Jews being tortured for no reason. It's not surprising that the vultures and drooling sociopaths that frequent VNN and other sites for dinosaurs who should have passed their extinction date in 1945 think that they're the future of white "civilisation".

__________________

In other, happier news, Greece has won the eurovision song contest. Israel's Shiri Maimon came fourth - with a grand total of 154 points. Atta girl Shiri!
Unsurprisingly, the UK came almost last. We're not the most popular of countries at the moment - and our g-d awful song didn't help. Still, at least we did better than France, who romped home to defeat with 11 points, and Germany, who managed to gain a dismal 4 points, despite having the least-dressed woman in the entire competition!

Gun control

Some people must have heard about the case of Linda Walker who was sentenced to six months in prison for firing a pellet gun near a gang of yobs who'd been terrorising her and her family on account of her son's sexuality and her job as a teacher and social worker. She didn't even try and shoot them - she shot NEAR THE GROUND - and at that range there is no way that it could have been fatal.

She had phoned the police twelve times in the month before she committed the "offence". These teenagers had vandalised her home, threatened her, and made death threats to her and her son, who was gay. Did the police do anything? Of course not.

We've got a pellet gun at home (albeit securely locked up) and we must be one of the few families in the country that do. There's even talk of banning them now, due to cases of small boys "accidentally" shooting neighbours' cats and incidences like this. I'm starting to think that this is actually quite draconian. The arguements that are used in favour of legalising drugs can be equally used in favour of relaxing gun control. At the moment, most of the people who own guns are in fact criminals. It is easy for a criminal to get hold of a gun whether it is legal or not. If guns were legal, like they are in the US (but available with a licence so not just anyone could have them like they can there), it would probably reduce crime, since chavs and other idiots would be more weary of going around burgling houses or attacking people for no reason!

In addition, most of the crime that is committed round here is in fact done with knives. There is a lot more of a knife culture in Britain than a gun culture. Stabbings, fist fights, bottling people, is a lot more commonplace than actual shootings, but becaue of this, the police don't take them as seriously. There are no controls about knives in England, basically if you're over 16 you can buy a knife, no matter who you are. And if you're under 16 too. I remember when I was 13 I bought a little pocket knife from a stall in the town, and I wasn't asked for my age.

I'm starting to be less and less in favour of the gun control laws in the UK, which are strict even for Europe, and end up penalising the law-abiding people who need to use them in extreme situations to defend themselves, whereas criminals - who these laws actually are designed to stop - carry on using them with impunity!

Lemming trouble

Yeah .... a couple days ago I was mad enough to order a copy of the game "Lemmings". I am now getting well and truly stuck on a good amount of the levels of this game. In case you don't know what lemmings are, they're little rodents that have a strange liking for committing suicide off of cliff faces. In the game, they do much the same thing, except that you can try to rescue them, by having them build bridges, bash through things, etc. Oh - and they can have all sorts of nasty thing happen to them, like being impaled by huge icicles, drowning, being burnt, or being shot by ray guns. I'd forgotten how impossibly difficult this game was, and I've had to skip quite a few of the levels.

But if you miss it from your childhood, or you never played it before, I strongly recommend playing it. I don't think they make them like that any more. I'm not into violent computer games (although falling off a huge staircase and going "splat" on the ground is pretty violent, I'll admit). They really don't make them like this any more, and I doubt they ever will again, which is a great shame.

Bomb discovered in garden centre

Did a disgruntled al-Qaeda terrorist have one of his pot-plants die?

In other news, there's been a tear gas attack in London. Finally. This shall be interesting. If you're reading this you probably know a bit about me so I won't bore you with any details about my life unless I feel like tellin ya - apart from the fact that I'm doing my AS levels and (thank g-d) won't have any exams till next wednesday, so I'm taking the day off to relax a little bit.

Ive been lent "Les Choristes" by my French tutor so I ought to get on with watching it, unfortunately it won't be tonight because I'll have nobody to watch it with, unless Taro gets his acts together and replies to my text.
